The Regions Trusted Surgical Hospital

The surgical services team of Marlette Regional Hospital performs a wide spectrum of general and specialty surgical services for adults and children. Our surgeons utilize techniques and technologies that offer patients optimal results—from minimally invasive surgeries that use small incisions, to image-guided technologies that enhance precision.

Advances in surgical skills and technology have dramatically increased the number of procedures that can be performed on an outpatient (same-day) basis, which alleviates the need for patients to stay overnight and helps to return them to health more quickly. More complex procedures may require a stay in the hospital.

The surgical services team is truly multidisciplinary and is staffed by board certified surgeons, registered nurses, certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified scrub technicians, and assistants/attendants.

Types of Surgeries Performed

Mako SmartRobotics at MRH

Your joints are involved in almost every activity you do. A diseased or injured hip or knee can limit your ability to move and work.

Total Hip Replacement at MRH: By guiding your doctor during surgery, Mako’s AccuStop technology allows your surgeon to cut less by cutting accurately what’s planned to help protect your healthy bone. Patients who had total hip replacement with Mako SmartRobotics have shown reduced length of hospital stay with fewer risks of dislocation after the surgery, than those who had a manual hip replacement. Patients have also shown higher patient satisfaction at a 1-year follow-up compared to manual hip replacement.

Total Knee Application at MRH: Patients who had a total knee replacement with Mako SmartRobotics experienced less postoperative pain and on average required less hours of hospital stay with fewer PT sessions during rehabilitation, than those who had a manual knee replacement. Patients were also able to preserve more bone and protect soft tissue from damage, than those who had a conventional knee replacement with better physical function in some and improved survivorship and lower revision rates in others.

Partial Knee Application at MRH: Patients who had a partial knee replacement with Mako SmartRobotics experienced less postoperative pain and on average required less hours of hospital stay with fewer PT sessions during rehabilitation, than those who had a manual knee replacement.
