Services Social

Social services are provided in all areas of the hospital: acute care, rehab, emergency room, extended care facility and hospice.

The staff is available to help you with an array of services including:

  • Practical concerns.
  • Financial arrangements.
  • Adjustment to the hospital setting.

Social workers serve as advocates for patients. They can also help or provide referral service for:

  • Emotional concerns.
  • Separation anxiety.
  • Long-term illness.
  • Terminal illness.
  • Substance abuse problems.
  • Physical abuse.

Social workers are also discharge planners. They will assist with such needs as:

  • Referrals for home care.
  • At-home meals.
  • Medical equipment.
  • Appropriate facility placement.
  • Support groups.

Along with services provided on an inpatient basis, the staff is also available to do public speaking in their areas of expertise.

Support groups currently available

Adult Diabetes Support Group

This group meets regularly at the Marlette Regional Hospital East Campus, 2861 Main St., Marlette, MI. Call 989.635.4348 for details.

Cancer Support Group

This group will be meeting monthly the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe.

United Hospice Support Group

  • First Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at Marlette Regional Hospital.
  • Second Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at Country Gardens, Pigeon.
  • Third Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lexington.
  • Second Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Assisted Living Center behind Country Gardens, Pigeon.
