Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) offers a wide variety of respiratory therapy services, including:
Breathing treatments. These treatments deliver medications such as bronchodilators (to open airway passages), steroids (to reduce inflammation) and antibiotics. Treatments are given to people with asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema and various other pulmonary conditions.
Oxygen therapy. This therapy is used for people with many types of pulmonary diseases.
Arterial blood gases (ABG) testing. This test shows the pH, carbon dioxide and oxygen levels of the blood. ABG testing is typically performed in people who have acute respiratory complications.
Pulmonary function test. This test can help diagnose different types of lung diseases, such as asthma, emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis.
SpO2. In this test, a finger probe is placed around a finger to measure the amount of saturated oxygen available.
ETCO2. This test measures the gases (carbon dioxide) a person breathes out.
Nocturnal pulse oximetry. This test is performed at night and measures the amount of oxygen in the blood using a sensor clipped to the finger or ear. A low level of oxygen may indicate a lung or heart disorder.
MRH's respiratory therapy services are available with a physician's referral. Please contact us for more information or to schedule an appointment.
