The physical rehabilitation services department is composed of two separate departments: inpatient and outpatient. This separation allows staff to focus efforts on the appropriate patient group. Though these two units focus on different patient groups, they work toward the same goal: Providing their patients with the highest-quality care and education needed to assist them in recovering from physical impairments and disabling conditions.
The inpatient department serves acute, swing, long-term care and hospice patients. Treatment options in these areas usually focus on the building blocks of function, such as bed mobility, transfers, grooming, and walking and stair climbing.
The outpatient department serves all nonhospitalized patients. Treatments options for patients in this area usually focus on more advanced functions, such as proprioceptive training, strength and motion building for functional daily and job-related tasks, and advanced ambulation and stair climbing.
Part of the outpatient department, aquatic therapy or pool therapy consists of a therapeutic exercise program that is performed in the water-based environment. This therapy is used for a variety of medical conditions such as low back pain, hip and knee pain, and fibromyalgia. It assists patient healing and exercise performance through numerous water properties such as buoyancy, water temperature, and wave resistance.
The department has undergone recent aesthetic and equipment updates. When you are near the area, stop in for a quick look at this great feature of our hospital!
