Services Neurology

Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) offers a full range of neurology services. Tests and procedures we perform include:

Electromyography. This test looks for neuromuscular diseases. The test measures the electrical activity of specific skeletal muscle groups to determine whether muscle weakness is caused by a problem with the muscle itself or with a nerve that supplies the muscle.

Nerve conduction velocities. This helps doctors look for neuromuscular disease.

Electroencephalography. This test monitors brain wave activity to help diagnosis seizure activity, stroke, vascular headaches and many other diseases.

Brainstem auditory evoked response. This test is done to help diagnose problems such as a tumor in the auditory nerve, stroke, multiple sclerosis or a brainstem lesion. The test measures the timing of electrical waves from the brainstem in response to clicks in the ear.

Visual evoked response. This test helps diagnose optic neurosis, multiple sclerosis and optic neuropathy. The test measures the time it takes for the eyes to respond to a checkerboard test pattern.
