- Mrs. Gardner organized the Marlette Hospital Auxiliary. During the first meeting on March 7, 1951, the group purchased drapes and blinds for the new hospital which opened for business three months later. For fifty-five years the auxiliary has supported Marlette Regional Hospital with hours of volunteer service, funds for fixtures, and scholarships for health education.
- Current MHA officers are: Chairperson: Doris Wood; Vice-Chair: Sheila Lambert; Secretary: Pat McLaren; Treasurer Marilyn Ross. Membership: 89 Business Meetings ( from 10 am until Noon in the MRH Overflow Room) are: Nov 16, 2006; and in 2007: Jan 25; Feb 22; March 22; April 26; May 24; June 28; summer adjournment in June and July; Aug 23; Sept 27; Oct 25; and Nov 15. Brunch is provided by Chef Bryan of MRH. Guest speakers and updates by CEO, Dave McEwen are often segments of each meeting. New members will be warmly welcomed! - Fund raisers include the Annual Fall Home Tour and Buffet. This event includes the touring of six residences within the MRH service area and is preceded by a Harvest Buffet in St. Elizabeth's Parish Hall. The date is always the first Saturday in October, twenty-six of these popular events have taken place, and proceeds are used for hospital equipment such this year's purchase of a second blanket warmer for the MRH Surgical Department. A second fund raiser, following on the heels of the Tour and Buffet, is the Pampered Chef Catalog Party whereby auxilians will invite friends and family and hospital employees and total strangers to buy these fine kitchen items. Again all proceeds will go to the hospital, this time to buy a beautiful and tall tree for the MRH Seton Lobby to use for the Tree of Shining Love Ceremony. - Marlette Hospital Auxiliary awards two $500 Scholarships annually to two people seeking educations within the realm of health care. Applications are made available by calling Scholarship Chairperson Dorothy Kelly (989 635 2560) and selections are made by June 30th.
- Other Marlette Hospital Auxiliary activities include trimming a Christmas tree for Extended Care residents, assisting with hospital projects and workshops, and of course, volunteering for shifts in the Hospital Gift Shop (See Gift Shop Web Page).
