2004 Tree of Shining Love Honorees
In Memory of
Harold Harbar
Harold Harbar will long be remembered for his dedication to Marlette Regional Hospital. He faithfully served on the MCH Board of Directors for 26 years holding positions as Vice President of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Foundation Committee, and until his death in March, 2004, a member of the Corporate Board.
Supporting him through his years of service were his wife Janet, a MCH Gray Lady and longtime Marlette Hospital Auxiliary member; daughter Karla and her husband Michael Dennis, and their children Megan (and her friend Tyler) and Mitchell comprise Harold and Janet's family.
Whether this multi-talented man was creating flower beds with his wife or camping with friends, Harold enjoyed his life in Marlette. From the beautifully landscaped backyard of their lovely home to the projects at the Methodist Church to the boardroom of Marlette Regional Hospital, Harold Harbor willingly and cheerfully contributed untold hours to making both the hospital and the area it serves a better place for everyone.
In Memory of
Beryl Wood
The Marlette Regional Hospital scrapbooks are filled with memories of the dedication and support from Charter Auxiliary Member, Beryl Wood. Her death in April, 2004, was an irreplacable loss to her family, her community, and most certainly Marlette Regional Hospital.
Her efforts have helped to build a solid relationship between the Auxiliary and the hospital. She stood behind a comittment "to help the aged, the ill, and the very young, with generosity, with discretion, and with gentleness."
The community felt the presence of Beryl's involvement with the General Federation of Women, the Eastern Stars, the Marlette Township Election Board, and the Marlette Regional Hospital Corporate Board.
Her family includes, in addition to her husband Harold, three sons and their wives: Wayne and Diane, Lee and Cyndi, and Randy and Jan. Beryl's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great great-grandchildren were certainly a source of pride and joy for her.
Donations from the 16th Annual Tree of Shining Love will be directed towards inpatient room renovations.
