Swing Bed Program

Swing Bed Program
The Marlette Regional Hospital Swing Bed program provides many benefits to the families we serve as well as our staff, physicians, and community. The programs’ purpose is to assist patients in improving their physical, emotional and social function to become as independent as possible.
It is a Medicare sponsored program that allows rural hospitals to use empty hospital beds to “swing” from acute patient use to skilled care use by eligible patients who need temporary, transitional care.
Conditions for Swing Bed services
- IV therapy
- Wound care needing daily evaluation and treatment
- Restorative nursing care/education such as; ostomy training, or diabetes teaching.
- Debilitation/weakness requiring daily therapy.
- Post operative or orthopedic procedures requiring daily therapy.
- Stroke (CVA) requiring rehabilitation.
You may be eligible for Swing Bed services if you meet this criteria.
- Medicare as a primary payer.
- Medicare Skilled Part A days available
- 3 day hospital stay within the last 30 days.
- A skilled care need that is related to the condition being treated during the hospital stay.
We are fortunate to be able to offer the Swing Bed Program here at Marlette Regional Hospital. If you think you or someone you know might benefit from this program, or you have some questions, please contact us at 989-635-1850.
