5th Annual Smart Living Festival a Huge Success!
MRH and Marlette Community Schools Staff
Marlette Regional Hospital and Marlette Community Schools presented the 5th Annual Smart Living Festival Saturday, January 23 at Marlette Elementary School. This year’s theme was a “Pirate Adventure to Health”. Visitors of all ages took part in a treasure hunt for healthy living habits and for a chance to win a Nintendo Wii.
Thank you to Marlette Community Schools, the 36 vendors, 25 volunteers and nearly 550 visitors that helped make this year’s event a success!

Treasure Hunt
Visitors of all ages took part in a treasure hunt. Visitors were given a treasure map and were requested to visit 5 stations that taught healthy living habits. Those who collected jewels from all five stations were put in a drawing for a chance to win a free Nintendo Wii! |  | Fun Activities
Randy Muxlow II, completed a rope climb with instructor John Morris. Other activities available were rock climbing, PS2 Extreme Dance Studio, Nintendo Wii Fitness, DDR and Stacking Cups- directed by MCS students, and putt-putt golf. |

Cooking Demonstrations
Marlette Regional Hospital’s Chef Bryan provided healthy cooking demonstrations to visitors. Nearly 36 vendors provided free health information and food samples to visitors at this year’s festival. |  | 
Smart Living Education
Diabetes Educator, Melanie Campbell, RN, CDE, from Marlette Regional Hospital taught visitors how to read food labels and make a plate with correct portion sizes. |

Grand Prize Winner
This year’s grand prize winner was Amera Hale. She, among hundreds of other treasure hunters, were put in a drawing to win one of several prizes. This year’s grand prize was a free Nintendo Wii. |  |  |
