Marlette, MI- Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) is extremely fortunate and thankful for the many volunteers that support the hospital’s activities and has dedicated staff to assist these volunteers. MRH’s United Hospice Service (UHS) welcomed Lillian Comment as the new Volunteer Coordinator and Sara Redman as the Marketing and Foundation Specialist. Lillian, who previously held Sara’s position, started her UHS position in October and Sara began her tenure at MRH in December.
Lillian began her career at MRH in October of 1990, when she joined the Dietary Department. Three years later, she accepted a position as the Marketing Assistant within the MRH Marketing Department. While in the latter position, she had the privilege of being part of some great hospital projects and had the opportunity to work beside many inspiring employees, volunteers and community members. Lillian graduated from Dorsey Business School and is currently pursuing a Marketing Degree from Baker College.
As the UHS Volunteer Coordinator, Lillian works with over 100 volunteers that provide services including: bereavement volunteer services, patient care in regards to companionship, caregiver respite, office support, Hospice Residence support, and volunteer services. When discussing goals for her new position, Lillian commented, “With the new Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, aligning our program with the current regulations is my focus.”
Sara Redman, MRH’s new Foundation and Marketing Specialist, is no stranger to the Marlette area. Raised in Marlette and a graduate of Marlette Community Schools, Sara went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing communications. She then further developed her marketing and volunteer management skills as a Recruiter and Special Events-Donor Center Recruiter for the non-profit organization Michigan Blood. Through these positions, Sara gained valuable experience working with volunteers to organize, plan, and implement special events. Sara is also skilled in photography and has very strong writing skills.
As the Foundation and Marketing Specialist, Sara will use her education, experience and interpersonal skills to assist members of the Marlette Regional Hospital Foundation Development Council to support the mission and vision of the hospital. Additionally, she will utilize her strong marketing and writing skills to inform the community of the services and events within MRH. Sara states, “I’m excited to be back in my home town supporting and promoting the hospital. I’m really enjoying learning about the great services provided here at MRH and am having fun rekindling old friendships and creating new friendships.”
