- Mrs. Gardner organized the Marlette Hospital Auxiliary. During the first meeting on March 7, 1951, the group purchased drapes and blinds for the new hospital which opened for business three months later. For fifty-eight years the auxiliary has supported Marlette Regional Hospital with hours of volunteer service, funds for fixtures, and scholarships for health education.
- Current MHA officers are: Chairperson: Sheila Lambert; Vice-Chair and Membership Chair: Barbara Woods; Secretary: Jane Fry; Treasurer Judy Hostetler; Greeter Chair: Doris Wood; and Gift Shop Manager: Mary Lou Prowse. Our current membership is 92. Business Meetings are from 10 am until Noon in the MRH Auxiliary Conference Room on Thursday: Jan 22; Feb 26; March 26; April 23; May 28; summer adjournment in June and July; Aug 27; Sept 24; Oct 22; and Nov 19. Lunch is provided in the cafeteria by Chef Bryan of MRH. Guest speakers and updates by CEO, Greg Roraff are often segments of each meeting. New members will be warmly welcomed! - Fund raisers include the Spring and Fall $5 Sale and the Fall Vendor Sale. All of these fund raisers are held in the MRH Medical Office Building and are open to the public. Proceeds are used for hospital equipment and improvements.
- Marlette Hospital Auxiliary awards two $500 Scholarships annually to two people seeking educations within the realm of health care. Applications are made available by calling Scholarship Chairperson Dorothy Kelly (989.635.2560) and selections are made by June 30th.
- Other Marlette Hospital Auxiliary activities include trimming a Christmas tree for the Tree of Shining Love, assisting with hospital projects and workshops, and of course, volunteering for shifts in the Hospital Gift Shop and with the Greeter Program. (See Gift Shop Web Page).
