Marlette, MI – The Laboratory of Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH), headed by department manager Linda Bush, MT(ASCP), the Cardiopulmonary Department, headed by Katrina Pandrea Moorehead, RRT, and Medical Director, John C. Liao, M.D., were recently awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based upon results from a recent onsite inspection.
CAP is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of pathologists and is considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance. The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program conducts onsite inspections to verify compliance, assess the overall quality of the laboratory, and identify deficiencies that can affect the quality of laboratory performance. Specifically, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years, laboratory staff qualifications, equipment and facilities, and the overall management of the laboratory. The CAP onsite inspection also examined the Cardiopulmonary Department procedures for Arterial Blood Gas, Co-Oximetry and hemoglobin derivatives testing. Membership of this association ensures that MRH Laboratory patients are provided with the highest standard of care.
The MRH Laboratory is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide. Equipped with 15 staff, the MRH Laboratory conducts extensive laboratory testing procedures including coagulation, urinalysis, virology, serology, microbiology, hematology, chemistry testing, and several testing procedures within the Blood Bank.
